2017 British F1 Grand Prix

Lewis Hamilton - Winner 2017 British F1 Grand PrixIt was 25 years ago since I last visited the Silverstone circuit in Northamptonshire for a British F1 Grand Prix. On deciding to return this year to capture some images, I remembered from way back then that the Friday practice day was quieter and with the general roaming access gave plenty of freedom to move around the circuit.

In 1992 I used an Olympus OM4Ti film camera and took around 60 images. This time with the Nikon D7200 I amassed a total on 649 images (Pre-editing).

Choosing the Friday appeared to be a good choice, with the Saturday practice and qualifying a wet and dull day, and of course, the main race day packed to the hilt. The other benefit was that I could watch the Grand Prix at home, in full. Was good to see Lewis Hamilton from Stevenage win the day and take P1.

Andy SearsI am a photographer based in the village of Graveley, Hertfordshire situated between the towns of Hitchin, Stevenage, and Letchworth. I qualified with the Society of International Nature and Wildlife Photographers gaining my Licentiate in 2016. My photography started as a hobby many years ago with 35mm film cameras then after a few long breaks moved to Digital SLR.

While my main subject area is garden and flora photography, I photograph almost anything that catches my eye and recently I am spending more time on commercial and product photography, and also photography for car insurance companies.

Working in my home studio, I use Adobe Photoshop and Capture One Pro for all post-processing. More of my photographic, web and print work can be seen on my Adobe Behance page. Photographic prints and digital downloads are available at Pixieset.

I know it can be difficult when starting out and I know the cost nearly always plays a major factor. No matter what your budget, please drop an email to me at andysears@visart.co.uk to discuss any requirements.

Fairlands Lakes Stevenage

Robin at Fairlands Lakes, Stevenage - VisartA crisp cold morning called for a walk around the Fairlands lakes in the middle of Stevenage herts. Although smack bang in the middle of the town, when walking around it felt like you was in the middle of the countryside.

A frosty morning, and the ground frozen making it easier to walk around without getting caked in mud.

The wildlife here at the Fairlands Lakes, surprised me with many different birds (I was expecting the usual Ducks and Geese). A short walk gave visibility to Jays, Woodpeckers, Moorhens, Coots, Bullfinch, Cormorants, Grebes, ducks, Geese and a posing Robin. The most surprising to see was a Muntjac, ambling along the waters edge in broad daylight. Although the muntjac soon scuttled off into the undergrowth, when a camera was pointed at it.

The lakes have become quite established over the years, and provide an excellent place for a short walk. There is a cafe on site to provide refreshment.
